Thomass house a man starts his truck and begins to pull away. When the man pulls away he takes the make it supporting beam with him and what remained of the house crumbles. The driver then finds Mr. Thomas in th e outhouse and lets him out. Mr. Thomas is d! istraught about the totally situation while the driver of the truck can do nothing but laugh at the situation. In my opinion, Greene uses irony to show reason behind Trevor and the Wormsley Common Gang destroying Mr. Thomass house. One example of this irony is when Trevor finds money in Mr. Thomass but decides to burn it instead of use it for the gangs personal benefit.
